Kevin Smith hat viel vor: Zuerst "Clerks 3" oder "Mallrats 2"? (Update)

++ Update vom 07.02.2020: Clerks 3 dürfte dann schon konkreter sein. Über das Setting verrät Kevin Smith, der Film spiele fast gänzlich im "Quick Stop", allzu viel herumkommen werden Dante Hicks (Brian O’Halloran) und Randal Graves (Jeff Anderson) also nicht. Gleiches gilt für Jay (Jason Mewes) und Silent Bob (Smith). Und für Rosario Dawsons Becky Scott, falls sie wieder mitmacht.

++ Update vom 08.01.2020: Laut Kevin Smith ergab sich die Gelegenheit für Mallrats 2 dadurch, dass Universal Pictures Jay and Silent Bob Reboot gemacht hatte und wissen wollte, was er denn nächstes vorhabe. Er habe geantwortet, man habe vor ein paar Jahren Mallrats 2 machen wollen, Universal aber Nein gesagt. Allerdings habe man da diese Mall und diese ganze Crew... Woraufhin ihn das Studio aufgefordert habe, einen Zweiseiter auszuarbeiten! Die Fortsetzung soll sich darum drehen, dass in der Mall eine große Comic-Convention stattfindet. Es gebe also eine Menge Orte und Möglichkeiten, so Smith.

++ News vom 06.01.2020: Das vergangene Jahr hatte wie jedes Jahr seine Höhen und Tiefen, aber für Kevin Smith waren es wohl deutlich mehr Höhen als Tiefen. 2019 sei ernsthaft eines der besten Jahres seines Lebens gewesen, schreibt Smith in einem Instagram-Posting zum Jahreswechsel, in dem er seine ganz persönlichen Highlights auflistet.

Nicht nur deshalb, weil er seinen Jay and Silent Bob Reboot verwirklichen konnte, auch sonst gingen viele seiner Träume in Erfüllung. Es werde schwer für 2020, an 2019 heranzukommen, glaubt er daher. Aber er sei spaßig gestartet, indem er in einem neuen Drehbuch, das er "Twilight of the Mallrats" nenne, für Brodie Bruce (Jason Lee) und Co. Sachen zum Sagen schreibe.

Das Clerks 3-Drehbuch sei ebenfalls im Gange, also mal schauen, welcher Streifen sein erster Film der "Goldenen Zwanziger" sein werde! Richtig verstanden: Smith unternimmt bei Mallrats 2 einen neuen Anlauf. Nachdem das Mallrats-Sequel, das er mal auf den Titel Mallbrats getauft hatte, zwischenzeitlich eine TV-Serie werden sollte, scheint er nun doch zur Filmidee zurückgekehrt zu sein.

Sooooo glad I didn’t drop dead back in 2018, because I would’ve missed all the stuff I listed with my pic. Thank you to everyone who supported the #jayandsilentbob #rebootroadshow Tour: we’ve made over 3 million bucks from our 2 @fathomevents screenings and the 37 cities we’ve visited so far (Tour resumes January 10th in Oakland for another 25 cities through Feb 26). Many thanks for powering my dopey dream of reopening the Askewniverse and making me and @jaymewes feel so welcomed in all your towns and cities! It’s gonna be hard for 2020 to measure up to 2019 - but I’m off to a fun start by writing stuff for Brodie Bruce & Co. to say in the new script I’m calling TWILIGHT OF THE MALLRATS! The CLERKS III script is also underway, so we’ll see which flick will be my first film of the roaring 20’s! But tonight, I end the year like I always do - standing on the stage at the @hollywoodimprov with @ralphgarman, making BABBLE until the Ball drops (a few tix left at the link in my bio)! It was a decade that began badly with COP OUT and the TOO FAT TO FLY incident. The decade of the Red State Tour, @tuskthemovie and @yogahosers! It was the decade in which I almost died of a massive heart attack, and the decade where I went Vegan and got down to my high school weight! Maybe that’s because Clerks II came out in 2006, not the 90’s. Also: Clerks II is my favorite of the Askewniverse movies (with #JayAndSilentBobReboot gaining fast). Also also: Clerks III takes place almost entirely at Quick Stop, so no airport stops. https://t.co/6jatkAJsDS
